Pastoral Care.
Consistent, trusted pastoral care for students, families and staff.
SMG has delivered pastoral care services to schools across South Australia since 1991. Through trained Pastoral Care Workers (PCWs), SMG provides compassionate pastoral care that supports students, families and staff within school communities.
Pastoral Care Workers offer a calm, confidential and supportive presence for young people navigating social, emotional and personal challenges. Working alongside school leadership and wellbeing teams, and connecting with community services where needed, pastoral care supports early intervention and strengthens wellbeing across the school community.
What Pastoral Care Provides
SMG Pastoral Care Workers support school communities through:
One-to-one pastoral care for students experiencing social, emotional or personal challenges
Support for school staff and families, helping strengthen relationships across the school community
Early intervention and wellbeing support to address concerns before they escalate
Positive role models who build trusted relationships with students
Connections to community services and external support when additional help is required
Through consistent presence and trusted relationships, pastoral care helps students feel supported, valued and heard.
Supporting School Communities
SMG Pastoral Care is delivered as part of everyday school life, enabling Pastoral Care Workers to build meaningful relationships with students and staff over time.
Working collaboratively with wellbeing teams and educators, PCWs help strengthen school culture, support student wellbeing and contribute to safe and connected learning environments.
National Student Wellbeing Program
SMG works closely with the South Australian Department for Education as a service provider under the National Student Wellbeing Program (NSWP).
Through this partnership, SMG recruits, trains and supports Pastoral Care Workers who provide Pastoral Care services to schools across South Australia.
