Our Work.

Holistic wellbeing support delivered in school communities

For over 30 years, SMG has partnered with South Australian schools to deliver pastoral care, resilience building, and wellbeing education as part of the fabric of school communities.

Our programs go beyond one-off sessions or workshops. We work alongside educators, families and staff to provide consistent, trusted wellbeing support that helps young people make healthy choices, grow through adversity and flourish at school, at home and in life.

Our core areas of work include:

Pastoral Care.

Consistent, trusted pastoral care for students, families and staff.

SMG has delivered Pastoral Care services to schools across South Australia since 1991. Our pastoral care program provides one-to-one pastoral care for students, school staff and families, delivered by trained Pastoral Care Workers (PCWs) provided within school communities.

Pastoral Care Workers offer a calm, confidential and supportive presence for young people navigating social, emotional and personal challenges. Working in complementary partnership with school wellbeing teams, and connecting with community services where needed, Pastoral Care supports early intervention, strengthens relationships and helps create cultures of purpose, value and hope across schools.

Life Matters...

Building resilience, emotional literacy and healthy choices.

Life Matters is SMG’s proactive wellbeing education suite of wellbeing seminars and workshops delivered through interactive student presentations aligned with the Australian Curriculum  (Version 9.0).

The presentations create a safe and inclusive space for students to explore wellbeing topics relevant to their lives, reflect on the choices they make, and understand the impact they can have on their friends, school, community and world. Life Matters complements existing wellbeing programs and initiatives within schools by strengthening wellbeing at a whole-school level and supporting educators with structured, evidence-informed presentations.

Kimochis® Australia.

Early development of social and emotional skills.

Kimochi means “feeling” in Japanese. Kimochis® Australia is an evidence-based social and emotional learning program designed for early childhood and primary school students.

Using engaging characters and age-appropriate activities, Kimochis® helps children identify, express and manage emotions, develop empathy, and build strong communication and social skills. By establishing these foundations early, the program supports positive behaviour, learning readiness and long-term wellbeing.

Kimochis® Australia is used by educators and families worldwide and delivered locally through SMG in partnership with schools.
